Our Management Committee understands the value of employing and retaining quality staff. Great care is taken when recruiting new staff to ensure that their personal philosophy and ideas match with those of the centre. To ensure staff retention the Management Committee provides a number of additional benefits for staff and is always open to new ideas and ways in which they can continue to support the staff.
They work with staff to promote a positive working environment. One where individual staff are supported to work to their best ability while being valued as an integral part of a team. Staff have real representation on the Management Committee and are actively involved in Management decisions regarding policy, procedure and day-to-day operations.
Ongoing staff development and training are supported. A range of inservice and training opportunities are provided for the staff, both in-house and off-centre, at no cost to the staff member. The Management Committee has also made provision for a pupil free day each year so that all the staff can be provided with tailored staff development on that day. Staff wishing to upgrade existing qualifications are supported with study leave.
The centre provides above award wages, additional holiday days during the Christmas Shut down and 10 weeks paid maternity leave in addition to the government paid maternity leave. There are ample non-contact areas for staff including a large staff-room and kitchen area, and Room Leaders have a total of five hours per week non-contact time.
