The University Preschool and Child Care Centre (Uni Preschool) is a community-based, not-for-profit child care centre located on the campus of The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. The Uni Preschool was founded in 1969 by ANU staff as an independent organisation. It enjoys a close relationship with the university and is located in Lennox House, a building provided by the ANU. The university contributes to some of the running costs of the Centre and families with connections to the ANU are given priority on the Centre’s waiting list. Our Service has been assessed against the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care and has achieved a rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standard in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law-Effective-1-01-2018 and the National Regulation-Effective-1-02-2018.
Congratulations to Mirja, a long-serving UPCCC Nursery educator has won the ACT Education and Care Sector’s Educator of the Year. A very well deserved and fantastic achievement.
Many of our families have been lucky enough to have her care for their little ones but for those who don’t know her, Mirja has been an educator at the centre for 30 years and has dedicated her career to working with children since she was 16.
Mirja offers a world of experience and knowledge of children’s development, health and wellbeing, but is incredibly humble about the crucial role she plays in children’s very first experience away from home.
She is a strong advocate for children’s rights and works tirelessly to ensure that not only are the children safe and happy, but also receive high quality education and are loved as if they were her own.
Mirja is also an exceptional mentor to students and staff; promoting a fun, supportive learning and work environment for all.
A big congratulations to Mirja on her wonderful achievement!
